Weekly Runs:


Monday Speed Workouts, 5:30pm:
Meeting time is 5:30 p.m. for all workouts except on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008, workout starts at 8:00 am and will be followed by Karla's Kickball game. We will meet for all workouts at Sugarhouse Park on the road on the east side of the park west of the Highland High baseball field and track.

April 7
2 x 200, 400, 600, 800, 600, 400, 2 x 200. Recovery to approximately 60% of your maximum heart rate.
April 14
12 - 16 x 200. 200 meter recovery after each one.
April 21
2 - 3 sets of the following: 2 x 400, 1 x 800. Recovery to approximately 60% of your maximum heart rate.
April 28
5 - 8 x 800 meters. Recovery to approximately 60% of your maximum heart rate.
May 5
3 - 5 x 1 mile at 1/2 marathon race pace. Full recovery.
May 12
6 - 10 x 400 meters. Recovery to approximately 60% of your maximum heart rate.
May 19
10 - 20 X 200 meters, depending on how you feel after the race. 200 meters recovery.
May 26 8:00AM
3 - 5 x 800 meters. Recovery = 1.5 to 1 work to rest ratio. Karla's Kickball game will follow the workout at approximately 9:00 am.
June 2
2 x 200, 2 x 400, 600, 800, 800, 600, 2 x 400, 2 x 200. Recovery to approximately 60% of your maximum heart rate.
June 9
8 - 10 x Hill. 8 - 10 repeats of the hill at the southwest corner of the park.
June 16
5 - 6 sets of the following: 2 x 200, 1 x 400 meters. 200 meter recovery.
June 23
10 - 12 x 400 meters. Recovery to approximately 60% of your maximum heart rate.
June 30
4 - 6 x 1000 meters. Recovery = 1.5 to 1 work to rest ratio.

Wednesday Evening Fun Runs, 6:00pm, through April 9th:
Wednesday fun runs start at 6:00 pm. Through April 9th, meet at the Highland High School parking lot, 2100 S. 1700 E. Distance (generally 5-8 miles), route and pace depend on the group. View the run with Mapper.

 April 16  Tanner Park  Meet in the parking lot at 2700 S. and 2700 E.
 April 23  Memory Grove  Meet at the main entrance gate on A Street, just off North Temple.
 April 30  Millcreek Canyon  Meet at Skyline High School 3241 E. 3760 S., in the parking lot east of the school. The run will head up Millcreek Canyon Road as far as possible. Trails and Wasatch Drive are also ooptions, depending on snowpack.
 May 7  Jordan River Park  1700 S. and 1150 W. Meet in the parking lot across the street from Raging Waters.
 May 14  Draper Park  Meet in the north parking lot at 12450 S. 1300 E.
 May 21  Liberty Park  700 E. 1300 S. Meet at the parking areas east of the central park area, parallel to 700 E.
 May 28  Red Butte Canyon  Meet in the parking lot near the OLD Red Butte Garden entrance, behind Ft. Douglas and near the Olympic housing complex on the University of Utah campus. Look for the visitor parking area.
 June 4  State Capitol  Meet near the upper east parking lot, about East Capitol Blvd. and 500 North.
 June 11  Sunnyside Park  Meet in the parking lot at 840 S. and 1600 E. (Sunnyside Ave).
 June 18  Dimple Dell Regional Park  Meet at parking lot, 10400 South 1300 East.
 June 25  Little Cottonwood Canyon  Meet at the Park & Ride lot at the mouth of the canyon (around 4323 S. Little Cottonwood Rd. in Sandy).
 July 2  Alta Canyon Sports Center  9565 S. Highland Dr. (2000 E.)Meet at the parking lot.

Saturday Morning Runs, 8:00am:
Saturday fun runs start at 8:00 am and meet at various locations as follows:

 April 5  Northwest Multipurpose Center  Meet in the parking lot on the south side of the building, 1200 W. 300N.
 April 12  Redwood Multipurpose Center  Meet in the parking lot behind the building, 3060 S Redwood Rd. NOTE: This is the last scheduled Saturday fun run of the season



Saturday Morning Long Runs Begin April 26
All runs will start at 7:00AM. For the spring, the basic distance will be between 10 and 14 miles. For those who are interested in longer distances, please adjust your starting time accordingly if you wish to rendezvous with the main group at 7:00AM. For those interested in shorter distances, we recommend using the club email list to coordinate with other members who are interested in similar distances and pace (see "Email List" at www.slctrackclub.org).


 April 26  Rotary Glen Park / Emigration Canyon  Meet in parking lot, Sunnyside Ave and Crestview Dr., just across from east end of Hogle Zoo parking lot. We will run out and back on Emigration Canyon Road. Total distance is 12 miles from the starting point to the hairpin turn. Additional miles can be added on by continuing past the hairpin turn to either the top of Little Mountain or to East Canyon Road.
 May 3  Jordan River Parkway / Taylorsville  5400 S. and 1200 W. Meet in the parking lot on the east side of the Jordan River (not the dog park). The run will consist of an out and back on the Jordan River Parkway. The decision regarding whether to start out northbound or southbound will be made at the start of the run, depending on weather and wind conditions. Additional miles can be added as needed along the parkway.
 May 10  State Capitol / City Creek Canyon  Meet at the State Capitol, along the east side of East Capitol Boulevard. The route will consist of an out and back from the State Capitol to Rotary Park at the top of City Creek Canyon. This is a very hilly run and can be good preparation for a marathon with significant uphill and downhill sections. Total out and back distance is about 13 miles. An additional 4-5 miles is available by adding an out and back from the mouth of City Creek Canyon to 11th Avenue / Primary Children’s Hospital.
 May 17  NO LONG RUN  No long run scheduled. Many members will be participating in the Ogden Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon Relay. For details, please refer to www.ogdenmarathon.com.
 May 24  Park City Rail Trail  From Salt Lake, drive I-80 east toward Park City. Exit UT-224 at Kimball Junction, turn right and drive south ~5mi to Park City. Turn left (at light) onto Kearns Blvd, then turn right (at light) on Bonanza Drive, and then left on Prospector Ave. Drive past the Associated Plaza Bldg (#1755), and park in Lot "G" to meet at the Union Pacific Rail Trail. The course will be out and back on the Rail Trail. Additional miles can be added on as needed.

 June 21  NO LONG RUN  No long run scheduled. Many members will be participating in the Ragnar Relay—Wasatch Back. For details, please refer to www.ragnarrelay.com/wasatchback.
 June 28  Jordan River Parkway / Draper  Take I-15 to 12300 S. (Draper/Riverton exit), go west one mile, meet at the parking lot on the north side, east of the Jordan River. The run will consist of a double out and back from the starting point to the trailhead in Bluffdale (7 miles) and then out and back from the starting point to the end of the trail in Draper (3 miles). Additional miles can be added on in the nearby neighborhoods in Riverton.

Sunday Morning Runs:
Starting Sunday, April 20th, the regularly scheduled spring/summer Sunday fun runs begin. All runs begin promptly at 8:00 am. Meet at the Highland High School north parking lot, 2100 S. 1700 E. Attendance is variable. Distance (generally ranging from 5-10 miles) and pace depend on the group.

Fun runs are informal, non-competitive runs (or walks) open to members and their guests. Non-members are welcome, but are asked to join the Club if they plan to participate on a regular basis. There is no entry fee and no facilities are provided. Runners just arrive, socialize, run (or walk), and usually go out to eat afterwards. The basic distance can be altered to fit individual needs.
